Event: Kind Edward VII School Mini Gathering for those who sit PMR in 2002

Venue: Bukit Bintang Kuala Lumpur

Alhamdulillah, the gathering was a successful one. Although the arrangement was a mess but the opportunity to meet up the long lost friends came along with the attendance of unexpected faces which I never had opportunity to talk with in school 7 years ago had cheer me up. I have to admit that the SMKE way of classing system during my year was a way too prejudice. Students were discriminated according to their result and separated into different blocks which unconsciously had lead to unhealthy surrounding. Good grew ego while bad felt satisfied to be worst. Unlike the MRSM system where students are mixed up regardless their result and hence create a knowledge sharing surrounding, SMKE’s is much more like a quarantine system where clean nerd boy shouldn’t be sit next to an ‘otai’ or otherwise the nerd will be affected. However I can’t denied that sometimes the quarantine system is a need since the students were still young and yet have no self resistances towards something new but bare with me, the classing system shouldn’t be proudly implemented. In the SMKE mini gathering, I saw a student who was considered as an ‘otai’ and spoke rude words all the times  has transformed himself into a nice gentleman and successfully hold a position as a Pizza Hut Manager. Yes its undoubted that ‘otai’ students did nothing wrong, they were just naughty and lack of exposure of the world reality but truly deep in their heart, they were innocent. Here comes the responsibility of their peers who are gifted with outstanding intelligence to share their thought. Unfortunately it never happened as they were separated by classing system where the objective was to quarantine the good and bad students. SMKE which consider themselves as a Premiere and Bestari school  should be more sensitive about this issue and should find an alternative to at least let the student share their knowledge, interest and idea among their school mates and most importantly broaden their network. I don’t believe that the responsibility would only fall on the club activities as the curriculum was so outdated, limited and stressful. Believe me school life is not only occurred in school, the surrounding will be dragged for a long long time. Here I suggest a system such as shafting the students’ class every month according to a systematic shafting system so that it wouldn’t be too messed up and accompanied with monthly tests so that the ‘otai’s could witness and feel themselves how the nerd prepare themselves. The symbiosis is also would benefits the nerd as they wont be too obsessed with studies which could lead them to a stressful life while meantime create an unlimited network. InsyaAllah, there will be another smke mini gath next year to those who has missed the first one and hopefully the quarantine system would not separate us apart as we need to work together regardless our status and background in order to conquer the world. TIGERS! ROAR!
